A group in Second Life is an association of 2 or more residents usually founded to bring together people with the same or similar interests. Groups can have officers and regular members. A resident can join up to 42 different groups, but can only activate one of them at a time. A group title is added to the avatar's nametag that may or may not show which group the resident currently has chosen. Group titles can be set separately for officers and regular members, both limited to 20 characters in length. Land and objects can be deeded to groups, making them available to all group members.
